Honestly, I was let down. For the price of admission I expected a lot more. Half the rides had long lines and some were showing their age – the bumper cars had cracks in the seats. Several food stalls were closed and the ones open served cold fries. The staff at the entrance seemed annoyed when we asked for a map. Not worth the hype or the money. I've been to better theme parks in Asia for way less.

The water park section is a blast – wave pool and lazy river were perfect for cooling off. But the locker and changing room situation was a nightmare. Lockers ran out by 10am and attendants were rude about it. The splash pads for little kids are well-designed though. I'd recommend going on a weekday to avoid the chaos. Still had a fun time, just wish the logistics were better managed.

Great day out overall, but a few things keep it from being perfect. The animal interactions (feeding the kangaroos) were genuinely magical, and the gardens are beautiful. However, the food courts are overpriced and the burger I had was dry. Also, the park is so massive that the signposts are confusing – we ended up walking in circles to find the panda house. Good value if you plan ahead, but bring your own snacks.

Thrill-seeker's paradise! The roller coasters here are insane – I must have gone on the wooden coaster five times. Zero complaints about wait times, even on a Saturday; the single-rider lines moved fast. The staff at the drop tower were super encouraging and made the experience even more fun. Only wish they had a few more extreme rides, but overall a solid 5/5 for adrenaline junkies.

Absolutely incredible place! We spent two full days here and still didn't cover everything. The animal exhibits are top-notch, especially the safari drive-through where giraffes came right up to our car. The water park is huge and spotless. Kids loved the dolphin show. Every ride we tried was well-maintained and the staff kept everything running smoothly. Will definitely come back next year.

Chimelong Tourist Resort Travel FAQ

Is it better to stay inside Chimelong or outside?
It's a trade-off between convenience and cost/choice. Stay inside if: Your budget allows, you have very young kids or less mobile members, and you want the full themed experience. Stay in Zone 2 (Hanxi Changlong) if: You want more dining options, better value for money, and don't mind a short metro ride or taxi. For 80% of my clients, Zone 2 is the smarter play.
Do I need to book park tickets with my hotel?
Not necessarily, but it can be convenient. Official resort hotel packages often include tickets and are valid for multiple days. If you stay outside, you can book tickets easily on Chimelong's official English website or via travel platforms like Trip.com. Compare prices. Sometimes the hotel package is a deal, sometimes it's not.
What's the one thing most tourists forget to pack for a Chimelong hotel stay?
A portable power bank. You'll be using your phone for maps, translation, photos, and DiDi all day. Outlets in older local hotels can be awkwardly placed. Also, slippers. Many Chinese hotels provide disposable ones, but the quality is poor. Your own are better.
When is the absolute best time to book a hotel for Chimelong?
For the official resort hotels (Panda, Chimelong Hotel), book as soon as you have dates—ideally 2-3 months out for weekends, even earlier for Chinese holidays (Golden Week in October, Spring Festival). For Zone 2 hotels, you can often find good deals 3-4 weeks in advance. Use a site like Trip.com or Agoda which cater to international guests. Avoid booking last-minute on a Friday for a Saturday arrival—prices skyrocket and rooms vanish.
Which Chimelong park is best for a family with a 5-year-old?
Hands down, the Safari Park. The scale amazes kids, the tram ride feels like an adventure, and the animal encounters are gentle. Paradise has a small kids' zone, but it's overshadowed by the intense thrill rides. For young children, Safari Park delivers a full, unforgettable day without the sensory overload.
What's the single best way to save money on a Chimelong trip?
Book a room + ticket package directly with a Chimelong hotel for a 2-night stay. It looks pricier upfront, but when you factor in the included multi-day park tickets (with early entry), the savings versus buying everything separately are substantial—often 25% or more. You also save on transport and time.
Is one day enough for Chimelong Safari Park?
Barely, and you'll be exhausted. You can see the highlights if you follow a ruthless plan (like my Day 1 itinerary) and skip some shows. But you'll be rushing. The park is huge. To actually enjoy it, watch a show, and not feel like you're in a marathon, I strongly recommend a full day just for this one park.
We don't speak Chinese. Will we get by at Chimelong?
Easily. It's designed for international tourism. All major signs are in English. Park maps are available in English. Staff at information booths, hotels, and major ride entrances can manage basic English. The official app has an English interface. For complex issues, use a translation app like Google Translate. You'll be fine.
