Honestly, I was a bit let down by Shenzhen. Maybe my expectations were too high. The modern parts are impressive, but the overall vibe felt overly commercial and crowded. Got lost trying to find a quiet park. Also, the summer heat and constant AC make it hard to enjoy outdoor spaces. Not terrible, but not my kind of city.
We spent four days in Shenzhen with the kids and had a great time overall. The Window of the World was fun but packed on weekends. Loved the Children's Palace museum—free and interactive. The metro was stroller-friendly. Prices are reasonable compared to Hong Kong. Only complaint: the air quality could be better on some days. Still a solid city break.
As a photographer, Shenzhen is a goldmine. The futuristic architecture in Futian CBD, the mangroves in Shenzhen Bay, and the colorful window of the world park—all amazing. But the real gem is the sunsets over the bay bridge. Only downside: the humidity could be a pain for camera gear. Still, five stars for the visual feast.
If you're a foodie, Shenzhen is paradise. From fancy dim sum in Nanshan to late-night skewers in Baishizhou, every meal was a hit. The nightlife in Shekou is buzzing, and the Coastal Walkway is perfect for a sunset stroll. Only wish I had more time to explore the theme parks. 10/10 would recommend.
Shenzhen blew me away! The skyline is insane—especially at night from the Ping An Finance Centre. The metro system is super clean and easy to navigate. Loved wandering through OCT Loft for the art vibe. Street food in Dongmen is a must, those grilled oysters are unreal. Definitely coming back!
Can't believe how green this city is! Splendid mountain parks right in the middle of a mega-city—hiked Wutong Mountain and the trail was well-maintained with stunning coastal views. Then cooled down at Dameisha Beach; the water was warm and clean. The public bike share system also made it super easy to explore the coastal paths. Everything felt safe, modern, and incredibly well-planned. Already planning my next trip back. 5 stars without hesitation!
