Took my parents and my 8-year-old here on a Sunday afternoon. The temple grounds are spacious enough that we didn't feel cramped, and my kid loved counting the tiny Buddha statues on the walls. The vegetarian restaurant on site was a pleasant surprise – dumplings were delicious and affordable. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the restrooms were pretty dirty (no paper, bad smell) and there wasn't a clear sign for the exit – we ended up walking in circles. Still, a nice cultural stop for families.

I came here specifically for the morning chanting session and it was absolutely transformative. The resonant voices of the monks echoing through the ancient halls gave me chills. The incense smoke, the golden Buddha statues, and the gentle ringing of bells – everything felt so sacred. Spent almost two hours just sitting in the back of the main hall observing the rituals. If you're spiritually inclined, this is a must-visit. Pure peace.

Honestly, I was a bit let down. Maybe my expectations were too high after reading all the rave reviews. The temple itself is old and has some charm, but there was loud construction noise from a nearby building the whole time I was there – really killed the peaceful vibe. Also found a few too many souvenir stalls crammed into the side halls. It wasn't terrible, but for a 30 kuai entry I expected more tranquility. Maybe just bad timing on my part.

Really impressive architecture and a strong sense of history. The pagoda is the highlight – you can see it from blocks away! I gave it 4 stars because while the grounds are beautiful, it felt a bit crowded even on a weekday morning. Also, the entrance fee is reasonable but they charge extra for the 'cultural experience' room which seemed a bit cash-grabby. Still, a worthwhile stop for any Shanghai itinerary.

Absolutely stunning temple! The moment you step through the main gate, the city noise just melts away. I loved the ancient pagoda – it's one of the oldest in Shanghai, and the intricate carvings on the roof are breathtaking. Walked around the peaceful courtyards and even caught a glimpse of monks chanting in the main hall. If you're looking for a moment of calm in this chaotic city, don't skip this place. Highly recommend visiting early to avoid the crowds.
