I really wanted to love Sanya but it felt overdeveloped and fake. The so‑called ‘paradise’ beaches were lined with souvenir stalls and loud music. We visited Tianya Haijiao and it was just a bunch of rocks with queues of people taking selfies. The hotel was okay but not worth the international price tag. Left feeling disappointed.
Just needed a break from work, and Sanya delivered. I spent three days doing absolutely nothing – lying on the sand, reading, and swimming in warm water. The humidity was high but the ocean breeze made it bearable. Only complaint: getting a taxi from the airport took forever. Otherwise, perfect for a solo recharge trip.
Sanya is gorgeous no doubt, but it’s getting pricey. The beach at Dadonghai was nice, though super crowded when we went in February. We paid a fortune for a seafood dinner on the strip – good but not worth the hype. Still had a great time, just wish it weren’t so touristy and expensive. 4 stars for the overall experience.
Stayed at the Ritz-Carlton Sanya and the service blew me away. From the moment we checked in, every staff member knew our names and went out of their way to make sure we had everything. The concierge helped us book a last‑minute snorkeling trip that was amazing. Breakfast buffet was huge and delicious – fresh tropical fruit every morning. Absolutely top‑notch.
We spent a week at a resort near Yalong Bay and honestly, the views were out of this world. The water was so clear you could see fish swimming around your feet. Sunsets over the bay are pure magic – the sky turns shades of pink and orange that I’ve never seen anywhere else. If you love pristine beaches, this is your spot. 10/10 would come back.
