Decent but not spectacular. I appreciated the chance to see one of the most important archaeological sites in the world, but the presentation feels a bit outdated. The movie in the small theater was grainy and the English subtitles had typos. Also, there’s not much to do besides the museum and the cave – you can finish in 1.5 hours. Fine for a half-day outing from Beijing, but don’t expect a polished tourist attraction.

What a hidden gem! I came on a quiet weekday and practically had the whole place to myself. The audio guide is worth renting – it adds so much context to the digs. I loved the realistic model of the ancient environment in the main hall. The only downside is the distance from central Beijing; it took nearly two hours on public transport. But definitely worth the trip for the unique experience.

Honest review: the historical significance is undeniable, but the site feels a bit neglected. Some of the signage is faded and hard to read, and the paths around the excavation area are uneven. The staff were friendly though, and the ticket price is reasonable. If you're a hardcore paleontology fan, you'll enjoy it; casual tourists might find it underwhelming after seeing modern museums.

A solid 4-star experience. The site itself is fascinating and the walk up to the cave area is pleasant, with nice greenery. The main exhibition hall is informative but could use more interactive displays for younger visitors. Also, the cafeteria was closed when I visited, so bring your own snacks. Overall, a great educational trip, just wish the facilities were a bit better maintained.

Absolutely mind-blowing! Standing right where our ancient ancestors lived almost 500,000 years ago gave me goosebumps. The museum is well-curated with clear explanations, and the reconstructed cave is incredibly vivid. My kids were fascinated by the Peking Man skull replica. A must-see for anyone interested in human origins. Highly recommend spending at least half a day here!

Took my two teenagers here and they were bored to tears. The exhibits are mostly text-heavy, and the simulation rooms weren’t working. The site itself is cool for five minutes, then you’re just looking at rocks. For the price of tickets plus the long bus ride from town, I’d say skip it unless your kids are super into fossils.

I went on a quiet weekday afternoon and had the whole excavation area almost to myself. It felt surreal to imagine ancient hominins living here. The only downside was the tiny gift shop—nothing special. Still, for a solo traveler wanting peace and reflection, this place hits the spot.

Great for a half-day trip from Beijing. The surrounding hills are gorgeous—lots of stairs, so wear good shoes. The exhibits are decent but could use more English translations. Price is reasonable. If you’re already into paleontology, you’ll enjoy it; otherwise, it’s just a nice nature walk with a bit of history.

Absolutely fascinating! Standing right where Peking Man was discovered gave me chills. The walk up to the cave is lovely, and the smell of pine trees mixed with ancient dust is something I won’t forget. The staff were knowledgeable too. A must-see for anyone curious about human origins!

Honestly a bit let down. The museum part is well-organized, but the actual excavation site felt underwhelming—just some ropes and a sign. For the entrance fee, I expected more interactive exhibits or at least a clearer timeline. Not bad for a history buff, but casual tourists might find it meh.
