Mingshi Countryside

We weren't sure whether to visit Mingshi Countryside after seeing mixed reviews, but it turned out to be the highlight of our trip to Guangxi. Hired a guide through our hotel who arranged bikes and a picnic lunch. The scenery is stunning — like walking into a traditional Chinese painting. The kids loved feeding goats and chasing butterflies. Very well-organized, no hassles. Would come back in a heartbeat.

If you love landscape photography, Mingshi is heaven. I arrived at sunrise and had the entire viewpoint to myself. Fog sitting low over the river, mountains glowing pink, and a lone fisherman paddling by. Stayed at a homestay in the village and the host made a delicious breakfast with eggs from their own chickens. Probably the most peaceful place I've been in China. Highly recommend.

Beautiful scenery and a relaxing bamboo raft ride along the river. We saw farmers plowing with water buffalo and egrets flying overhead — very postcard-like. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is that the footpaths near the village were muddy after rain and the maps were unclear. We almost missed the best viewpoint. Bring good shoes and ask the locals for directions. Great escape from the city.

I really wanted to love this place. The landscape is pretty and we got a few nice photos, but honestly it felt overhyped. The entrance fee seemed high for what it is, and the shuttle bus to the main viewing point was hot, crowded, and we waited 35 minutes. The 'countryside experience' was mostly people selling bracelets and drinks at the stops. If you're in the area it's okay, but I wouldn't go out of your way.

Cycled through Mingshi Countryside last week and I'm still buzzing. The karst peaks around the rice paddies are unreal, especially late afternoon when the light turns golden. We stopped at a tiny family farm for a simple lunch of freshly picked veggies and river fish. They even let us feed their water buffalo. If you want authentic rural Guangxi without tour-bus crowds, this is it. Totally worth the detour.

What a hidden gem! I didn't expect such immaculate scenery — green fields, towering limestone peaks, and winding streams. We walked the riverside trail in the morning and had the whole path almost to ourselves. The air smelled of grass and earth after a light rain. One thing: there aren't many restaurants around, so bring snacks unless you're staying at a resort. But for pure nature and serenity, this place is a 10/10.

Took the bamboo raft tour with my sister and we were both blown away. The water is so still and clear that the mountains seem to float upside down. Our boatman was funny and even sang a local folk song when we asked. We bought some fresh sugarcane from a stand nearby — incredibly sweet. This place felt untouched and magical. Best part of our entire trip to China, hands down.

Honestly one of the most stunning places I've visited in Guangxi. We stayed overnight at a nearby farmstay and woke up to mist rolling over the karst hills, with water buffalo grazing by the river. Cycling the small lanes felt like being inside a Chinese landscape scroll. The sunset from the observation deck is unmissable. Absolutely worth every minute — I'll be back with more friends.

Mingshi Countryside is a nice escape from the city buzz. The river cruise was calm and the guide pointed out interesting rock formations. We stopped for photos at a few spots where the rice fields reflect the mountains perfectly. Only downside: the boat felt a little crowded, and the engine noise spoiled the peaceful vibe at times. Overall a pleasant half-day trip.

I just wish there were more signposts — we got lost twice and ended up on a dead-end path near someone's farm. Still, the locals were friendly and pointed us back. Lovely morning, but a bit stressful navigating.
