I had high hopes for Yangshuo but West Street was a letdown – packed with loud bars and souvenir shops, barely any authentic vibe left. The hostel I stayed at had moldy curtains and the staff seemed indifferent. Li River was nice but the crowds killed the mood. Just okay, not worth the hype.
Overall a solid visit to Guangxi – the natural beauty is undeniable. But I felt some spots like West Street in Yangshuo are way too touristy and overpriced. The local food was decent though, and hostels are cheap. Would give it 4 stars – good value but could use less commercialism.
Woke up at 4am to catch sunrise at Longji Rice Terraces – totally worth it! The golden light hitting the layered terraces was a photographer's dream. No filter needed. The Zhuang minority villages nearby add cultural depth. If you love landscapes, put this on your bucket list.
Cycling through the rice paddies around Yangshuo's Yulong River was the highlight of my trip. The scenery is postcard-perfect – water buffalo, old bridges, and farmers in conical hats. Stopped for some beer fish at a local joint and it was insanely good. Guangxi is magical!
The Li River cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo was absolutely breathtaking! Those karst peaks rising out of the mist felt like a painting come to life. Our bamboo raft guide was friendly and even pointed out the 'Nine Horses Fresco' rock formation. A must-do in Guangxi – 10/10 would recommend!
Cycling through the Xingping old town and along the Li River was the highlight of my trip to China. The scenery is exactly like the 20 yuan bill – breathtaking. I loved how peaceful it was early in the morning before the tour buses arrived. The locals were friendly and helpful. This province is a must-visit for any nature lover. Absolutely world-class.
